Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

    latest driver update for Surface Embedded Controller Firmware update failed with error 0x8024CE0E (according to the reliability reporter).

    Now fan is on 95% of time :(

    I'm getting might hacked off with this.

    How did your experience go over the phone. Just came home to a black screened machine at 10% battery when I left it this morning with almost a full charge and put it to sleep with the cover. It seems like the 4/19 update was just a big tease for me, it worked great for 24 hours, then I noticed system initiated sleep was black screening, not even user initiated sleep is black screening...so annoyed!!!

    It was painless maybe 10 minutes total. The guy asked if I wanted to troubleshoot I told him no that it was pointless since it was a known issue. I told him there were know exclamations points in device manager and I just wanted to exchange it. He said no problem sir checked my warranty information and arranged a replacement. I told him I wanted them to send me one first before I returned the one I have he said fine and that it needed to be back in 15 days or they would charge me.

    So basically I got this fiasco fixed in 10 minutes or so, no fighting no fuss no muss

    Lot 1724 i7 16GB 256SDD - still experiencing issue after updates, all updates installed without issue yesterday.  Was hopeful but no fix here.

    Same Config as yours. My original was lot 1548 and the replacement (via returns centre, Germany) is unknown as the non retail box they ship it in doesn't say so probably a refurb. Like yourself all updates installed without problems. Tried every single suggested solution listed here but no joy and still has the issue.

    Latest 19-April update offered hope when it was able to wake up twice, once after 10mins and once after 30 mins. However since then ... further tests have been shown the problem still persists with nearly every long sleep. It even seems to have a problem waking when the power supply was still attached. One interesting observation was the screen actually came back on after a few rotations of the device + removing the power supply which is supplied from the surface dock and I have an external monitor connected. This obviously forced the display driver to reinitialise when the external monitor was no longer detected but the type cover track pad would not respond even though the keys did. Removing and Reattaching the Type Cover stopped the whole cover from working.

    I've only tried notice the above once thought and would need to be able to repeat to suggest it's still firmware/driver related although I'm now thoroughly p1ssed0ff with this dogsh1t hardware.
