Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

    The update seems to "fix the not wake from sleep issue" on my SP4. However there is still one problem left I can't figure out. It won't enter sleep mode automatically, If I enter go to sleep after 1 minute it fails to do so, I have to close the cover or press the power button. I checked the surface diagnostic tool for updates and it updated watchdog timer driver but it didn't make any difference. It might be something to do with the insider preview build, I'm in the slow ring.

    Interesting because I just had my first Black Screen after the 4/19 update :(. It failed when it went to sleep on it's own...I have the screen going off after 2 minutes, then sleep after 5 on battery. So the only time I tried non-user initiated sleep, it failed to wake. I'm hoping this is a one time occurrence, but I know better! Will update this entry as I find out more...disappointing though, not a good feeling.

    And it looks like I'm back to not trusting sleep, at least when it's system initiated. Got the black screen now 2 for 2 when the system sleeps on batter after 5 minutes. So frustrating!

    It looks like mine consistently does this - It says the computer has rebooted from a bugcheck - and oddly does this several times.

    Is there anywhere to work out what the issue was from dump report?

    This is what it states:

    The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck.  The bugcheck was: 0x0000007e (0xffffffffc0000005, 0xfffff80142934c8d, 0xffffd00020476638, 0xffffd00020475e50). A dump was saved in: C:\WINDOWS\MEMORY.DMP. Report Id: 1f6b4ced-4f49-48c3-9113-3f4c99c62ed6.

    I think the only way I am going to prove its a real problem is to wipe and start again.

    So I learned of the 4/19 updates hours after arranging to have a new device sent by MS support. I understand all the ways I should stop putting time into this, but couldn't resist.

    Like a number of others, my device crashed during the update process, then rebooted several times, ultimately installing everything but the Intel Control Logic update, which continued to have a driver from Sept. 2015. Wake was sleep was the worst it has ever been in this state. Failed virtually every time after sleep more than a few minutes.

    I tried several things on the internet to get the intel control logic driver to install correctly, but no luck.

    New device soon anyway, so I figured what the heck, and did a factory reset. On factory reset I gave it wifi access during install, and ended up with a device that has some of the latest drivers (e.g. intel display driver, and surface embedded control firmware), but not a lot of the others (Intel control logic, camera drivers, etc).  More confusing, it won't pull anything else down over windows update, and I only got watchdog timer and thermal subsystem) via surface diagnostic toolkit.

    Further, I can't seem to bypass windows update to get the 4/19 stuff installed, because the downloadable surface platform installer has not been updated since 4/19.

    Any ideas?  Still kind of curious if this would work, but in a couple more days, I'm trying a different device.
