Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

    And I am afraid that I am on the Fast Ring, at build 14316, and that too does not fix the problem, sadly ...

    Several months ago my SP4 was having wake problems but after upgrading to the beta Intel display driver (way back when), I have not had the problem since and I continue to allow all Windows Updates to be pushed to me...including today's Intel chipset pushes, and all is still good with my device.  I feel for you who are still plagued by this issue, I know it frustrated the heck out of me when I was experiencing it.

    Anyway, I also wanted to report that a co-worker of mine had the same SP4 issue (and worse - rapid battery drain, generally funky behavior).  She was able to convince MS to exchange her unit - and her new SP4 has been flawless for the last 2 weeks.  She even said she got 3 days of "almost all work day" usage out of a single charge (which is a little hard to believe, but regardless, she is now very happy).

    I have the update and the issue is persisting.

    At least 20% of the time I attempt to wake the surface from sleep it doesn't respond until you hard-reset. This raises to close to 100% when the tablet has been asleep for a few minutes.

    I've owned a Surface Pro 4 for a month now and the myriad of problems I've had with it is ridiculous.

    For such an expensive device, it is unacceptable how many issues there are with the software. To list just a few:

    1. When I was first using it, the battery would not last more than 3 hours full-empty. For some reason 'Smartscreen Filtering' drains the battery.
    2. The screen brightness will pulse if it's on 'suggested' brightness.
    3. The type cover periodically disconnects and reconnects itself.
    4. When switching to tablet mode, occasionally the touch keyboard will not appear until you disconnect and reconnect the keyboard.

    If I were to choose again, I'd get a macbook.

    Thanks Glenn,

    I ran the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit, and it installed 3 updates, not just he watchdog timer. I'll post those below and update if this helps. The Surface Diagnostic Tool also adjusted a few power settings
