Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

In February, before the Feb firmware update, I did NOT have the sleep problem. The sleep problem STARTED with that problem. So if a firmware update can create the problem, then it must not be a hardware issue, but instead a firmware issue.

It could be that the improved firmware just exposed flaws in the hardware that were already present.

    Almost isn't good enough.

Definitely not, which is why I'm going to the nearest store this weekend for an exchange. Online support had me doing the usual time wasters instead of just sending a replacement. Last guy literally guaranteed a full reset would fix things.

Between this and the lies about which Windows Phones would be updated, I'm ready to bail. Luckily I gave up on the phones after two chances.

Guys, I don't think this is a hardware issue. My partner has a SP3 and told me today that the pressing control alt delete to make the screen come back on is driving him crazy. Ironically, I thought it had been running perfectly. Since that method seems to wake up the device, and on my SP4 the same thing happens to me, I'd assume it's either another issue or Windows general problem with Surface specific hardware that carried over from last year to this year.

Is this perhaps a more general problem .... I don't even think this is a Skylake CPU involved.

This is from the HP public support forum:

Windows 10 won't sleep or hibernate or boot properly

    Product Name: ProBook 450 G0

Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

    Hello!

    Hello!

Recently I did a clean install of windows 10 and I've got a problem that I've forgot about from my past experience with this version of windows : my system can not go to sleep ( or it can't wake from sleep mode ) nor hibernate.

Example of situation : I put the system on sleep, it goes off ( the power button is still blinking - that's what it does when the laptop is on sleep ) and when I press the power button again ( or click on my mouse ) the system does not resume. Either it starts like a fresh start ( like no sleep mode was ever there ) or the screen gets black, stays like that for a while and then shuts down ( and, of course, when I open it again it's like a fresh start ).

I have never encountered this type of problem on any other versions of windows. I have done almost ( if not all ) of suggestions and tutorials on the internet about this. The BIOS is up to date, so is my chipset driver along with the rest of my drivers. Is it possible to fix this? It's the only thing that will make me go back to windows 7.

    HP ProBook 450 G0 with:

    Intel Core i7-3632QM

Intel HD Graphics 4000 / AMD Radeon HD 8600/8700M

    8 GB RAM

    KINGSTON SV300 240Gb SSD

P.S. : I found this link in which I found out that downgrading the bios to an old release would work, but I can not find older versions for my laptop.
