Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

    And one more thing Id like to add before we get into some serious microsoft bashing on this thread.  I had an ipad some years ago that I had to return SIX times to apple because they kept handing me defective units.  Apple's just as bad with these manufacturing issues, the only difference is that they're selling many more units and must admit error and issue a recall if there is a large manufacturing fault.  I suspect in this case microsoft is trying to handle the issue quietly as the Surface business is still small.  If you have a good unit, this device is superior to the ipad pro(s).  Just in case anyone's wondering...  I'm not a microsoft fan by the way but a long time mac user...

    I wonder if there are others that have a surface pro 4 with lot numbers in the 1600s that have perfect working units. I have a surface pro 4 from lot 1541 and i get the sleep of death issue even after reinstalling windows 10 three times.

    My lot number is 1550.

    Just got off of chat and if the .msi package they had me install doesn't work, then it sounds like they will sent me a new unit instead of a refurb. No pretending they never heard of this problem thankfully.

    Was really hoping this wouldn't be the case but guessed it was the most likely problem. Whats worse is we dont have stores in the UK so this means another case of shipping it to Germany which took 1 month to get a replacement. Curse them at Microsoft for staying quiet on this. 

    Yeah, that is really, really irritating...  I would encourage Microsoft to come clean about this and issue a recall for the early units.  This would go a long way to building trust and developing a customer base for the surface.
