Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

    Hi Josh,

I have all the updates including the 2/17/16 update, yet it hasn't fixed the problem with waking my Surface Pro 4. I have checked that all of them were installed properly and do not require a restart to finish. Please advise on next steps as its very frustrating that my device requires me to turn it off and back on every time its put to sleep for more than 15 minutes.

    Cameron

I suggest you take it to the local MS store if that is an option.  They can check it out and tell you your options.  If there is not one close by you can initiate a chat session from the "contact support" app in your menu and they can walk you through it as well.

In either case make sure you tell them that you have already gone through all of the troubleshooting, update verification, etc. , otherwise they will start from scratch and follow their script.

Yeah, as a last resort I did an online chat with the MS Answer Desk. That was painful. The guy told me to "trust his expertise," and holding down Vol Up and the power button would fix ALL my problems. This is AFTER I told him I tried reinstalling the OS, refreshing the OS, beta drivers, SCANNOW, etc. He was most definitely following a script, and it was infuriating to indulge his "fixes." He also remoted into my computer, ran 2 troubleshooters, and checked my updates. This was all it took to have him tell me my unit was defective and authorized a replacement.
