Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

    I took the training and blog, been a while, and have been an evangelist for many years until a recent move internally.  I appreciate you concern.  I'm not promising anything other than I experience the same issues, I care, I'm researching, and If I can I'll point people in the right direction.  Per MSFT training :)

    For those running into issues with the display not turning on but all the sounds and etc work, the workaround is to press control+windows+shift+B and that forces the display driver to reset and make a beep sound; turns the display on.

    I received a replacement device last night for the "won't wake from sleep" issue. It came with build 10240. I ran updates, now on build 10586, and received the 2/17 firmware update. I have run it for almost 24 hours, with keyboard and without, plugged in, and off charger, and haven't had a single  wake problem. Ive had a couple stutters, where I thought it wasn't going to wake up, but after a second or two, it did. My display driver is version 20.19.15.4364. If anyone wants me to cross reference any other drivers/files/dates/etc, please don't hesitate to ask. For what its worth, my previous sp4 would not wake 85% of the time, unless I set it to hibernate. Win+p never worked, closing and reopening the case never worked, ctrl+shift+win+b never worked, and it had the issue regardless of whether it was plugged in or not. On my new unit I have created a restore point while its working great, and plan to save it in case things go south. Any questions???

    Hi Josh, I just purchased this Surface Pro 4 about a month ago.  All of the updates appear to be current, and there are no exclamation marks in the firmware section as you describe.

    I estimate that about 40% of the time my surface does not wake from sleep properly.  Many times it will actually run and get warm to the touch while sleeping, and the backlight on the screen appears to be lit.  As such, the battery is almost out when I get it back on, making me wonder if the problem is that it is not actually sleeping, and killing the battery running when I think it is sleeping.

    I see lots of comment about this on the boards and have a few friends with the same device.  It seems that everyone has given up on the tablet part of it.  Is Microsoft going to fix this or not?
