Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

    After 26 days and 6 total supports calls and chats, I just submitted for my return.  

    I can't tell you how disappointed I am.  You can't expect to take $1,600 from people and expect them to live with issues as major as this one.  I sat in a meeting today with no pen and paper and had to stall the meeting until I could do a hard reset while 4 other people ooohed and aahhhed over my SP4 that wouldn't turn on.  

    Not only did they embarrass me and lose me as a customer, but they pushed away 4 potential customers as the conversation devolved into MS vs Apple, and how Microsoft is always having issues like this.

    Absolutely ridiculous.  You had my money once, I don't know what you'll be able to do to get it back again.

    Just thought I'd share my experience which has been apparent since the very first day i used my SP4 (i5, 256GB).

    Same issue as everyone else - SP4 does not wake from sleep around 30% of the time. All drivers are current, all updates installed, Threshold 2 update made no difference (or possibly made it worse). I put up with it for a few weeks hoping a fix would be released, but nothing.

    I spent a few hours with MS Tech Support yesterday. They recommended that i shutdown the computer completely every time instead of sleeping to improve battery life! I suggested never turning the damn thing on at all would also result in amazing battery life!!! He eventually remoted onto to my SP4, checked various settings and ultimately decided to enable HYPER-V (normally used for creating Virtual Machines) as a potential fix. This, of course, did nothing to fix the issue but had the added bonus of somehow completely disabling the Type Cover. After playing around with the new fault, disabling HYPER-V brought the Type Cover back to life. Luckily i don't need to create VMs on my SP4 but I'm sure others will. Good luck with that.

    The upshot of all this? I'll be requesting a refund this weekend. I can't believe that a $2,000 flagship product like the SP4 can suffer from such a debilitating problem. Eventually MS will release a fix but I won't be a customer to see it.

    I found a solution that works for me - I only put it to sleep by Power > Sleep as opposed to hitting the sleep button or closing the type cover.  It hasn't happened since for me!

    Although I agree, this is really unfortunate.

    try leaving it asleep long enough and you will see this is not a real work around.
