Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

Couple things over the past 2 days:

When I have Bluetooth mouse connected, I can wake from sleep any time, by any sleep method (lid, button, etc).

When I have cover keyboard attached and sleep with any method, almost never wake up.

When I have it just in tablet mode without bluetooth keyboard, wake works most of the time.

I  initially localized the issue to having the cover attached. But now I know for sure if there is a bluetooth mouse connected, sleep and wake work normally. I have set device to hibernate as I want to use it more as a tablet and cannot have it not waking.

@Lyubomir: I think that's because your device never goes to deep sleep when having the Bluetooth mouse connected. When it isn't connected your device does go into deeper sleep and that's where some devices can't wake up.

Only solution so far I found is disabling ConnectedStandby, and only use hibernation for the time-being. You can do this by opening regedit (WindowsKey, then enter regedit)

Navigate to HKLM (Local Machine) \ System \ CurrentControlSet \ Control \ Power \ CsEnabled and set it to 0

Do a reboot, and Connected Standby is disabled. Now go back to your power settings, and set it all to Hibernate.

Sidenote: You can always set your register setting back to 1, when microsoft finds a better solution. But this way at least my device is usable again, and I don't have to worry about my device entering sleep and destroying all my open files.

Thanks for that info. Right now I haven't disabled it and Hibernate does work. Should I still disable connected standby? Or if I do, would that make Sleep work? Based on your notes, not really. I can have it on + Hibernate. But having sleep working would be the most optimal. I don't care for connected standby, windows hello, etc.

Basically, I want to get sleep working all the time. I can't carry a bluetooth mouse with me everytime the tablet is there. Wouldn't the stylus have the same effect? (which I have put away right now).

When I open my SP4 keyboard, and the keyboard lights are on, but the screen won't come on, I hit CTRL-ALT-DEL - it brings the screen up every time.  This has worked both before and after the 2/17 update.

I can't remember the last time I've had to hard reboot the device, and I've had it for 2 months now.
