Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

    Hi Josh,

    I installed all the new updates last night and confirmed they were successful, yet I am still having this very same issue. I've noticed the issue happens more often when I let the SP4 idle and it goes to sleep on it's own rather than pressing down the power button or close lid to put to sleep. I rechecked multiple times today to ensure there were no more pending updates as well. Anything else I may try?

    Tried rebooting first, then putting it to sleep. Pressed the power button and it rebooted instead immediately. Tried again and it did the same thing, except the recovery screen came up. Gave up and just shut it down. Hope these subsequent updates happen faster than every few months. :(

    Hi Josh,

    I found and installed the update(s) as soon as I saw it this morning, but am still having issues with my Surface Book's display waking from sleep. Keyboard backlighting is on, and the display will still detach, but it will not turn the display on without a hard reboot. Also went into device manager and it says the Intel display driver is up to date. This is starting to become quite a frustration having to hard reset 50% of the time. On the bright side, the battery isn't draining like it did before when in sleep, so we're half way there.

    this is happening to me too AFTER installing the 2/17 firmware update, that is suppose to FIX the problem. My Surface Pro 4 i5 256g had no problem waking from sleep before installing this update. I thought it is supposed to be a FIX, not a sleep death DRIVER.
