Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

    Yeah 1724 is the Model number...it's not 2017 yet....lot # is year and week of year as in today would be 1621, so a lot higher or even equal to that would be wrong.

    People,

    I believe the 4 digit code that starts with 17, e.g. "17XX" is the MODEL NUMBER, date lot codes are either in the form "15xx" and "16xx" - I keep people reporting lot number with 17xx, that's probably the model number - I checked my box and saw that.

    My SP4 never would wake from sleep; I had to use hibernate as a work around. Then I applied the USB fix and everything worked great, for about two weeks. Now, every now and then it still won't wake from sleep and requires a forced reset even with the USB fix. I'm off to the MS store tomorrow for an exchange.

    Received a new one 1724, a few charge cycles.

    Interesting: it has different firmware preinstalled, for example brightness settings are in %, the old one had "darkest, darker, ...", and other minor differences (and probably more important differences in drivers?)

    Zero wake problems - works absolutely flawless - wakes up every time, cover/no cover, 100% chance of success, short sleep, long sleep, doesn't matter - works everytime

    However this unit has other problems such as Windows Halo using normal camera instead of infra  red, problems with installing drivers (had to fix it manually by removing devices etc.), none of this problems affected my old device.

    So I am leaving this thread and ... joining other threads (about IR camera for instance) :) 

    USB fix / Hibernate may be better for you than risking another set of problems with a new device, your call. Good luck.
