Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

The fix they are working on came out on Tuesday, have you updated the surface?

    Hi All.

I've got the same issue. I've spoken with Microsoft and they are working on a fix. In the meantime changing the preferences for what happens when you press the power button/close the lid seems to help. Change all the setting from 'sleep' to 'hibernate'.

Hope it works for you guys too!

    James

My apologies I didn't mean you were being disrespectful at all, I was just not seeing the threads and the ones I was seeing about the sleep issue appeared to me to be before yesterday's update.

Microsoft often won't touch really old threads and ones quite so... um... how shall I say this.... a bit of a hot potato.  I won't be so bold to say that 100% of all issues are fixed in the sleep issue, but like Barb said, that's this one is supposed to help.

    Bottom line, test it out.

Here is the thread : https://www.reddit.com/r/Surface/?count=25&after=t3\_4l0oqv

I didn't want to be disrespectful, nor understimate  the effort put to resolve the problem, but I frequently check reddit when new updates pop up, and as of now it's mostly been in line with my experience (i.e. both the Feb and April firmware update did not solve the BSOD).

Since no thread came out claiming the bug was fixed (and it's happened many times during the last few months), and since the only answer on the sleep issue users gave was a ' problem is still there' one, I draw this conclusion.

Of course, I'll personally test the device: I reported the info for the sake of the discussion, hoping to get other opinions and being proven wrong. I'll let you know if that's the case with my very own SP4 :)
