Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

Honestly and truthfully there is code in this week's firmware.  Will it fix 100% of the issues? Prob not.  But to now at this point in time to say that this issue is 100% due to hardware, I would beg to disagree.

OMG seriously people.... STOP LOOKING FOR A MAGICAL SOFTWARE PATCH TO CORRECT YOUR ISSUE.

If you are experiencing this issue, you are having a hardware issue, that microsoft will gradly deal with for you. It was acknowledge by their in-store rep the moment i walked into the store, and I had my own personal surface pro 4 replaced "in store" without any bickering. I told the man what was happening, he said they knew about the sleep issue and it was an actual hardware problem and they would replace the device.

I'm glad that worked out for you. Unfortunately, it seems that support reps in store are cut from a different cloth than generic Microsoft support. The Microsoft Global Escalation Analyst I've been talking to has told me that the wake from sleep is a known software issue that Microsoft will patch when (if?) they figure out how to fix it (this was after the 5/24 updates). In the meantime, he suggests I use a workaround.

I would love to exchange my unit for a functioning one, but until MS corporate support is willing to admit that it's a hardware problem, it appears I'm stuck.

Well, I'd truly want to send the sp4 back and having it replaced.

Problem is, and that may surprise you, I can't at the moment. I use it, daily, A LOT: losing days/weeks is not a possibility at the moment, with exams approaching.

I'm not waiting for anything magical, I'm waiting the day I'll be able to send a replacement request: meanwhile though, I try to make it work, and I do hope it get somewhat mitigated (if not resolved).

I'm glad you had the possibility to have it replaced, I do not: I do not want to mask anything, I have to.

No need to lose your mind.

The last crash happened in a truly average situation : edge playing youtube. Screen went off, Surface never woke up.

Not many programs installed atm, drawboard, office, eclipse...Problem is present even with a clean install.
