Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

How's your battery life, if you don't mind me asking. I have 2 SP4 at home, and both drain like no other during sleep. Minimum 4% every hour. So every time I sleep and go somewhere, I lose 8%, maybe 9 or 10% when it has to wake up and hibernate.

I'm glad it worked for you; I tried this yesterday, and it didn't work :( In the middle of work I had to press and hold the damn power button to reboot it :(.

I'm very upset with Microsoft.

Totally agree and I've been a patent "all in ecosystem" fan since Windows MOBILE and Zune. Due to the Verizon debacle with new 950's and frankly the "beta" feel of Windows 10, I've become increasingly frustrated. No more Media Center so went to PLEX. No more flagship phones on Verizon so went to Android and the Note 5. While BAND 2 worked well with Android, the LG Urbane was so much more fun and a joy to use. Groove music is bad on Android, so slowly moving to Google Music. I am just so tired of the QC problems with Microsoft and the "wait and see" attitude...

And yes, I just purchased a Surface Pro 4 to upgrade my Surface Pro 3 and it is having all kinds of quirks, including the waking up, video driver crashes and "losing focus" off the Window I am in...nuts...

I put off upgrading my SP3 to a SP4 but finally did it and I'm having the same problem as well. Not only that but the constant VIDEO DRIVER CRASHES and things clicking by themselves or an app "losing focus" when I am typing...crazy...

Surface Pro 4 frequently awakens poorly from sleep. I often has a black field of the entire right 1/3 of the screen. The Chrome window has been pushed to the left. The cursor cannot be found. Using the pen I can use the task bar to wake up some of the open programs and then things get back to normal.

It seems to be the worst when the computer has been charging.

But even when sleeping for a few minutes (because I closed the cover) it can take a fairly long time to come back on. I thought it was supposed to come on instantly.
