Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

So, we had another update, and at least one person still had a Sleep problem.  Let's assume Microsoft will provide a fix for this....how would we know that is should be fixed now?  Trial and error, or would they announce the fix has arrived, at least on this board?

They must be afraid to say it's fixed because if it's not, people will be upset.  Or perhaps they still have some corner cases where its still broken.  They clearly want us to guess and speculate which is all we can do since their policy is to provide zero release notes.

Mine does seem to work better since the update but it's only been one day and my issues are intermittent.  If I'm good for 3 or more days then I'll consider it stable enough for business.  We have to wait and see.  Trial and error is accurate and we are just like QA beta testers only we paid lots of money to do it.

It's still broke after the Dec 17th patch. This bug is nasty.  The return clock is ticking Microsoft...

Unfortunately, the i5 is not the only one affected. I am now currently using an Pro 4 i7. I was encouraged as it did seem more reliable, however today after using for a few days I just experience the problem of not waking from sleep. Or more specifically, when I put it to sleep by flipping up the keyboard cover and then opened to wake it up 5 or so minutes later, the keyboard lights up and I can tell it is trying to read my face, but the display does not wake up. Had to use the 30 sec shutdown.

I will say that the i7 16G ram 256G ssd is a fast machine! The i5 I used ran circles around anything I have owned and while the i7 did not seem much faster at first, it does respond to events much quicker and I have noticed an enhanced experience. For the additional cost, not sure it is worth it for simply a extra snappy experience. Keep in mind I am comparing to Pro 4 i5 with 4G ram. For me, I wanted more than 4G ram, that may be in part why it is faster now having 16G ram.

I want to believe these are isolated issues affecting a small number of units... However, it certainly seems to be wide spread not just with the surface line but with anything these days. Some people are on their third unit and still don't have what they thought they were buying.  If the problems crop up early atleast you can return it.
