Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

    I also have the same issue on a UK model. It is deeply frustrating to have to keep forcing a shutdown every third or fourth time it is asleep. It is a very expensive unit and a bug like this seriously affects its usability as far as I am concerned. Very disappointing in what otherwise seems a reasonable product. First time I have bought a Microsoft product and unless its fixed soon may be the last.

    Well the silver lining there is that means it's a software related issue, at least on the Surface 3. So we can hope an update will solve the issue on Surface 4.

    I'm not sure I understand. Why not use Hibernate? I tried using NEVER, meaning it just never sleeps or hibernates, and the display just goes off whenever you set it to.  But I think then it is still reading and writing to the hard drive intermittently, fan may come on, etc.  Seems better to at least eventually hibernate after non-use for some time.  

    Nonetheless, if you use this NEVER method, how would you get the display to turn off like you do with a phone? With the keyboard, I suppose you could use win-L to lock which will turn off display after a while.  But I don't see anywhere to set the power button for Display Off....only options are sleep, hibernate or do nothing.

    Sadly, it's not just the SP4, but it was happening on my SP3 as well, after I upgraded it to Windows 10.  That was one of the primary factors in my decision to upgrade to the SP4, and now it's happening here as well...  it is EXTREMELY frustrating, and VERY annoying!  As much as I hate Apple, it really does make me consider an iPad Pro, which really **** me off since this thing costs $ 2,600 !
