Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

Exactly. And less people will be buying it if even store models of the SP4 are doing the exact same thing, which happened to me in Best Buy when I checked out the SP4 demo. I have a Microsoft Surface Pro 3 that I bought several months ago, and was considering upgrading to the SP4. But when I went to play with the demo model, it wouldn't turn on. I had to do the multi-step process of power button for 30, power button + volume down button for 15, wait a few, power button on before I could use it. How many people before me passed the Surface Pro 4 by simply because they couldn't turn it on at the store?

I also have the same issue on a UK model. It is deeply frustrating to have to keep forcing a shutdown every third or fourth time it is asleep. It is a very expensive unit and a bug like this seriously affects its usability as far as I am concerned. Very disappointing in what otherwise seems a reasonable product. First time I have bought a Microsoft product and unless its fixed soon may be the last.

Yes, I defected from Dell to Microsoft for this purchase, even getting the Band 2.  My wife had the SP 3 which has been great.  But now I am underwhelmed by the customer support, which was much better in my experiences with Dell.  Microsoft is reminding me of how the airlines behave; say nothing while you cancel flights, and then act indignant.  Here, Microsoft chimes in now and then, but subsequently disappears.

I suspect they don't want to jeopardize Christmas sales.  But all those purchasers will be returning them if the fix does not appear in early January.  OF course, it would be nice to see it NOW.
