Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

SP4 m3 having the Black Screen of Death after wake. The type Cover lights up and it appears the surface is on but nothing. I am not posting for a solution since it appears M$ is ignoring this thread with verocity, just adding to the pile so people know this thing is ****. I will wait a week or so then return for a refund and walk to the other end of the mall and buy the less capable but more reliable iPad. Thanks, M$ I've been defending you for years but this is inexcusable.

While out with friends after work, I was asked what have I gotten myself for xmas. I replied a SP4, which I had in my work bag next to me. 2 of them expressed interest in getting the device but wanted a demo before they committed. I pulled out my SP4, pulled back the cover and nothing...Had to hold the power button to reset it. Their faces were priceless and I was immediately asked how much I paid for it, to which I replied, $1800. After the reset, on login screen, i wanted to show them how cool Windows Hello is and positioned the device in front of them and explained it unlocks to my face. "No way," they said, so i moved to their side of the table and stared into the IR camera...and nothing, the device froze again! To which they replied, "Did you see that Giants game?"

I've been having problems with a brand new and very expensive Surface Pro 4.  First wifi problems (resolved to an extent) and now waking from sleep problems.  I'm now in the process of resetting the Surface to factory and have the return label printed out on my desk.  These problems are (to me anyway) completely unacceptable for such a high end machine.  The thing however that clinched it for me to return the device and not persevere, is that looking around the internet and on forums you get the impression that Microsoft just don't care.  Some of these problems have been around for months and months.  I've got no confidence that a fix is even being worked on.

Come on Microsoft are you bothered about your reputation of not ?, from what I see the answer is 'NOT'.

At this price for a machine like this you should be proactively contacting customers offering solutions - not seeming to ignore them.  Or maybe you can just rake in the cash by selling a pretty machine with problems ?.

    Not good enough.

I never had a wake up issue since I bought the device a few days ago, I have updated to 17/12/15 firmware.

But I still have the battery drain issue in sleep mode, it still seems that the device is not fully sleeping. GPU and CPU are somehow running which consumes about 8% battery during 2 hours sleep before it goes into hibernate automatically.

I am wondering if wake up from sleep issue only exists in some devices, and clearly a large amount of devices according to this more than 30pages thread. But the battery drain issue should be more seriously existing in every device.
