Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

    Someone, perhaps this thread?, suggested Win D several times to close programs, and then alt f4 and enter, to shut down.  Since I've been using hibernate after 1 hour, I haven't had a freeze. But I noticed alt f4 does not work on the surface keyboard plugged in.  This may...Win X to bring up start menu, then u for shut down, and u again to shut down.  I am curious if this will help avoid the power off reboot to get the computer to shut down and restart.  This would be a safer shut down.  Of course, STILL WAITING FOR A REAL FIX. For this and the excessive fan noise/use problem.

    Well this morning I had a new symptom. Went out for an hour so the screen went to sleep. When I tried to wake it up,  the screen was black but the mouse pointer was visible and I could move it around. I had to do the power off-reboot to get the screen back.

    I had this problem 2 days after purchasing the SP4, after it went to the latest Windows 10 update. It occurred for me a few times a day. I changed my settings to SCREEN off after 10 minutes and SLEEP after 2 hours. For the past 2 days now I have not seen the sleep issue. Since it is intermittent though it will probably recur.

    I just purchased my SP4 i7/16/256 5 days ago from bestbuy.  I just started using it 2 days ago and since then have had it fail to wake from sleep at least 40 percent of the time.  The computer is on because I ause I can see the keyboard light up, and sometimes hear sounds, but the screen stays black. Sometimes it was sleeping for less then a minute(closed type cover to adjust power cord placement and then it wouldn't turn on) .  I also have the typecover with fingerprint reader, when I pull open the cover the SP4 does not wake. I have to press the power button to get it to turn on(if it will turn on at all) which I find really frustrating.  I have owned many tablets(Samsung note, google nexus, ipad) and have never had issue.  When you close the cover it should turn off and when you open the cover the device should turn on.  This is something that is so simple and basic, and as this tablet has cost me almost as much as have paid for all my other tablets combined completely unacceptable.  I am going through all the updates now, and if this problem still exists will stop by the Microsoft store.  If they can't resolve it I will have to return.  As this is the first real splurge I have purchased in many years I have so far been disappointed.  I think I should have went with an Apple product instead.
