Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

Hello everyone. I've seen other threads regarding this issue, but I thought I'd make my own thread for a more personal exchange. My Surface Pro 4's screen never wakes up despite clicking and swiping my finger across the keyboard's touch pad, even though the keyboard is already lighting up. At first, this was a rare event, but lately it's happens at least 80% of the time I want to use my Surface. I consider myself blessed if my Surface does happen to wake up.

I would have to completely hold down the power button and I lose any open tab I have on Chrome, Word, and/or Excel. I understand bugs like this happen, but to occur almost every single time when I have sensitive documents on standby is completely unacceptable and unreliable for my college assignments. No Windows update has fixed this issue that is in terribly need for a fix. Is Microsoft even trying to resolve this? And is there anything at all that could wake up an unresponsive Surface?

100% agree. It's 75% chance of my surface pro 4 to not turn on the display at all so i have to hard reset it by holding the power button... The keyboard lights up, but not the screen. It's been a month since this post and still not a single update... Extremely poor of microsoft to not prioritize this for their tablet flagship!

I have just bought the i7 surface pro for over 2000 dollars and the thing will not wake up after it has gone to sleep unless I press the on/off button for many seconds. Really not good!!
