Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

You said 'The question if one should stick around or not becomes harder and harder'.

I was faced with the same question and I asked myself whether this was the premium product that I expected and that I  had paid a large amount of money for.

It is a pretty piece of kit no question at all, but if you ask yourself whether it is performing in line with your expectations for such an expensive device then actually the question answers itself.

You also said 'really hope that Microsoft releases a proper update soon.'.  As an SP4 owner I was not assured even in the slightest that they (MS) were concerned about the issues.  For such a premium priced product for a customer to 'HOPE' that someone is looking into the issues - well it's terrible.

I haven't had the don't wake from sleep problem for atleast a week now but have had some other related issues.

Yesterday the computer didn't wake from sleep but the third normal press on the power button got the computer starting again but when it came back all apps was closed and when checking the logs I could see that it had crashed a few hours earlier (probably the reason it required multiple presses on the power button as I probably turned it off from the crashed state first).

And today I was greated with a frozen screen on the login screen with the clock showing that the computer crashed about 20 minutes earlier. Had to long press the power button to force reboot the device.

In desperation I started to look into Linux alternatives for the unit but they are still missing many of the drivers and from just a quick search there appears to be many crashes and other issues there also so might be more hardware/firmware related than the OS....

The question if one should stick around or not becomes harder and harder, love the device but hates it's reliability, really hope that Microsoft releases a proper update soon.

I got that in early December during an update.  But after reboot, everything seemed fine.  Microsoft responded to my inquiry, but by the time they did, a subsequent update arrived, installed properly, and that was that.  I hope you have the same fortune!
