Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

    I just got this Surface pro 4 for Christmas, first time it stopped working it progressively ceased after my using it briefly twice!!!  (in which time an update was done).   The first fail (making a long story short).... the windows key wouldn't work n, nothing would happen when it was selected,  secondly the surfacePro4 would briefly turn on and shut off & then finally only a blank screen,  when I turned on the machine  (although the keyboard would flash  on and off). 

       I then sought  assistance from Microsoft tech support to recover my Surface Pro 4 . It was after many attempts via web support,  another additional  50 minutes of phone support in an attempt  to fix my Surface Pro4, that the it was recommended to recover with a Surface Pro 4 program download from Microsoft.  Which I did & recovered the SurfacePro4 the next day- and it appeared to be fixed :-)....

    But alas,  I barely signed in it twice again  & now the screen flashes on briefly then off!!!! Sad!

       I do not want a laptop/tablet that I cannot rely upon and will need to reset/reboot or recover every other time I want to use it!   Help!!!!

    Common issue. My girlfriend SP4 has this issue but not mine.

    I hoped the latest firmware fixed the issue but it doesn't.

    The problem seems to be related with an improper touch screen initialization (MTDevice) according to the event viewer. I'm trying to get some more information and try to resolve it.

    At this time, the only thing you can do is to hold the power button for 10 seconds, then wait a second or two and the press the power button once. This will force a reboot and will usually fix the issue for this time.

    Hi,

    I just bought a brand new Surface Pro 4, Jan 1st, 2016.

    I just got my first blank screen this evening after returning from Singapore where I bought it.  

    So, "return and exchange" could be trickier for me in China...

    This made me both concerned and bit worried to use it as a work computer...

    Microsoft - Please take care of your clients!
