Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

    It is better with the Intel drivers but certainly not fixed as I still have black screens but only after hibernation.  I've found that pushing the power button works faster.  Push it for 1 second and it goes to sleep.  Push it again and it wakes right up.  I still consider this a P1 issue and will return it before the 15th if Microsoft doesn't release an office and final fix.

    I have a suspicion that the SP4 Black Screen issue is hardware and not software related**???**

    In this thread one user posts that Microsoft tech support suggested to have the unit replaced as the solution.

    This could also explain the reasons that no update has fixed the issue.

    My first SP4 i7 Was shipped overnight on the 11/20/15 release. It came to me with a cracked screen. Microsoft helped to replace the device relatively quickly. I was getting the black screen from sleep. The pen would not right on the screen, there was wifi-crash issues that gave a error message about display.

    My second SP4 has been experiencing the black screen of death very often from day one,

    I noticed the day I received my second SP4 a dead pixilation spot in my screen and also light or screen leakage from a small spot on the border of the screen.

    I am curious if others experiencing the black screen have defective screens as well.

    I have noticed the best way to check for issues with your screen is to...

    Look quickly and carefully at the first black load screen that says Surface

    If you see any white spots or

    If you see any screen leakage from the border the hardware is defective.

    Microsoft is 2/2 on damaged new SP4's out the box for me.

    I still recommend the SP4. Even with its problems my SP4 really is an amazing device.

    The black screen issue is much better with the new driver. However, it is not completely gone. I still had a black screen yesterday after closing the keyboard (standby when lid closed is disabled). Putting the surface into and out of standby several times finally turned the screen back on.

    Can you screenshot and verify the driver version in device manager?
