Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

    Todays Windows update "Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1511 for x64-based Systems (KB3124263)" has made waking from sleep much better! Note the KB only mentions security fixes.

    I can now open and close the cover and the shift key almost always wakes the Surface up (including Hello login). Once I got the keyboard backlight on and a black display but closing and opening thne cover fixed it. I tried with and without external HDMI monitor and USB dock connected monitors, mouse, ethernet etc). I do get the no responsive "do you want to enter tablet mode" toast when no monitors are connected.

    @Microsoft. Thanks for fixing but you have treated us in a very poor way indeed! When Windows 10 launched I was really excited by the responsiveness of Microsoft support (mainly via Twitter). So much so I called out the "new listening Microsoft". That made me very happy. But now that has vanished and we are again being treated to stony ignorant silence. Have the lawyers or PR bunnies taken over again?

    This is bad! :(

    Have you installed the .4352 driver update discussed over the last few pages here?  I haven't had a wake from sleep issue since I installed it around 2 weeks ago.

    Hi guys,

    These 3 first weeks with my Surface Pro 4 i7/16gb/256gb as my work computer has been frustrating.

    Some of the problems are gone, but the biggest one and most frustrating is still here.

    So my setup is:

    2 offices with the following setup:

    2x Samsung S24c650 monitors

    1x Surface Dock

    2x Mini DP to DP cable.

    i come to work at one of the offices, plug my surface in to the dock, boot up, everything is fine. 

    go get a coffee, a trip to the toilet, meeting etc:

    Surface has turned of its screen (which it should do) 

    wake it and only the surface wakes up, when i check the display properties it still show the monitors as connected(and apps/windows may open on the other screens), but i cant get a picture even if i turn them on manually and choose the right input. still just a black screen. disconnecting the dock and connecting again does not work either. 

    only thing that works is to reboot again, sometimes i need to do it a couple of times. disconnecting the dock and connecting again does not work either.

    and it's the same in both offices

    Anyone found a solution or easier workaround?
