Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

    This solution I found to work great for my Surface Pro 4! However, I'm all up to date so perhaps the issue is still prevalent? It is the second time it occurred for me....

    Regardless, at least I found a fix!

    It's pretty clear that Microsoft is just throwing stuff at the wall.

    After a few weeks of trouble-free use, the SP4 just decided to have no video on wake. Such a disappointment. Looking forward to whatever Macbook Pro Apple introduces in the near term so I can unload the SP4.

    It's got great potential, and it's been totally squandered by the drivers + Windows 10.

    Until Apple rev's the MBP, I eagerly await the next set of "MUST HAVE FIXES THAT THIS TIME WORK" to breathe hope into this paperweight.

    FWIW, I have now realized that since the 5/24 updates, waking my SP4 in my SP3 dock is about a 100% fail scenario.

    It *may* be possible to wake the SP4 outside the dock, and then dock it, but that's just not what I do - reasonably enough, when I get back to the dock at either of my desks, I dock it and then try to wake it up.  I'm pretty sure this has been 100% likely to fail since the last series of updates.  Also, it seems that the first wake cycle outside the dock goes OK, but subsequent ones are more likely to fail.

    The serious power management issues of the SP4 are still nowhere near fixed. 

    I guess I'll try a swap for the newest unit I can get, but I'm not at all hopeful that will work - probably just another lost half-week of productivity.  IMO, there is absolutely NO point in ever swapping for a refurb, since they are 100% guaranteed to 1) already have proven that they are broken enough to return, and 2) are almost certainly still using the original mainboard, which would have the original, flawed Intel Skylake chip steppings, unless the mainboard was replaced in the refurb process (near-zero chance if the original lights up at all.) 

    It's worth noting that we still do not know that there even ARE improved or known working Intel chip steppings/revisions - the reports of working, newer SP4s are strictly anecdotal, and some of those have developed wake problems weeks later.  I would feel better about trying a hardware swap if we actually knew, for sure, and based on data, that there truly is a known good working, robust SP4 configuration, beyond a couple of "so far, so good" reports...
