Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

    I too have recently bought a Surface Pro 4 and experience the same problem several times a day. 

    This insight may be helpful, particularly if someone at Microsoft takes an interest in understanding what is going on:

    I have found that when the condition occurs [ie keyboard wakes up but screen stays black], the primary display is available if you plug in an extension screen.  The touch screen functions, but doesn't display.  But what's really, really interesting is what the computer seems to think is happening.

    Swipe in from the right and use the mouse to select 'Project' and the 'current' setting highlighted shows 'PC Screen Only'.  Ie, Windows 10 thinks the primary display is the surface screen, but the video card is sending it only to the external screen.

    Clicking on the 'PC Screen Only' option has no effect, reinforcing that Win 10 thinks that is what is already happening.

    Clicking on 'Second screen only' also has no effect, but changes the highlighted option.  THEN if you click on 'PC Screen Only', the Surface display takes over and everything is rosy.

    This is a much more satisfactory solution than turning off and re-starting the Surface, but depends on you having a second display readily available.  Not much help if you're on the train or in a meeting!

    Would be delightful if Microsoft could have a close look at what's actually happening here . . .

    So if I close my type cover (sleep) for about more than 2 hours, maybe even shorter but I haven't test it yet. After I push power button when I want to awake it, every time it just stays at Surface logo for about 2 minutes which is really unbearable.

    Any suggestions how to solve it? Thanks.

    Microsoft working on 'sleep' issues with Surface Pro 4, Surface Book with solution early next year

    I think that's a separate issue.

    It is, but my reason for posting was in response to turbodogx asking about how widespread/well known the sleep issue is.  The link mentioned that the new chipset is "problematic" in relation to the sleep issue, and I doubt the wake from sleep issue has escaped their notice.  We have a 50+ thread going here, I'm sure MS knows about it.  But I don't expect a response from them.  Eventually they'll figure it out and post a fix, which will get rolled out with an update, and they'll act like there was never an issue.  This is SOP with MS.

    I checked the Driver details and they are the New one.

    I am taking the Unit back today to where I bought it from and see what happens.

    Its only 3 days old today and this morning in a span of 5 minutes the screen turned black 4 times. I couldnt even open Outlook before the Screen went into sleep or whatever "****" mode.

    I didnt waste $2799 for a piece of dead weight.

    How can we notify Microsoft about this issue besides here where no one seem's to do anything?

    I might take to Social Media as this needs to be addressed.

    I also wonder how none of the other people are experiencing these issue's or have they just been silent and hoping a software fix is around the corner?

    I am happy to wait for a fix but I cannot even work for more than 2 minutes on it before it goes into sleep mode.

    This is seriously screwed!!!!
