Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

    I just installed the latest update today, I didn't notice any difference for display problem or wake up issue as I manually updated my intel graphic driver which seemed to solve the issue. But I noticed one big difference is that the battery life seems dropped dramatically. I lost about 10% battery within 20 minutes with system idle. I am not  sure if there is any problem with the battery remaining hours estimation. Usually it shows more than 10 hours remaining at full charge if I don't do anything. Now it only shows about 5 hours remaining under the same condition(full charge, doing nothing, all programs closed).

    I can report that this issue started occurring with my Surface, too. I never experienced it for several months, where I didn't have the type cover, but now it is getting more annoying every day.

    I unplug the Surface in the morning and plug it back in when I set it up at the office. I never disconnect the keyboard, really. Usually, it succeeds in waking up. However, after coming home the last two days I had to use the two button restart methods explained above in order to see anything.

    Frankly, this is annoying. I noticed before that Surface tends to be a little on the slow side when it comes to responsiveness after waking up. But with the keyboard attached, sometimes I need to wait 5 seconds until it shows any sign of life, other times it doesn't wake up at all or the screen backlight turns on, but all I see is black.

    Seriously, this needs to get fixed. I don't think I am doing anything weird with the device. My usage pattern is probably pretty much what the Surface was made for.

    I have checked the maintenance reports and I am getting the same picture as some of you guys have posted here. Basically, there has rarely a day gone by without a critical hardware error. Most of the time I don't really notice those errors, but today, it seems that the times the two errors occurred are pretty much consistent with when I closed the lid for a lunch break and leaving. However, only the second one left my Surface unresponsive and sometimes there is no hardware error at all just before I have to restart.
