Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

Really hoped that the crashes was fixed after the update last week, almost been a week without having to force reboot the computer until just now. I have had the camera frozen a couple of times so I couldn't use Windows hello and the battery drains faster than on a desktop (well did get 2-3 hours so not quite that bad but you get the point). Glad that I already decided to return the unit before it was to late, just hope I'll get the new Dell XPS 13 before I have to send this back so I atleast can get a smooth transition after all the problem that this computer has caused.

I really think this will be a great device in 6 month or a years time when Microsoft get the software sorted out but I'm not sticking around and wait any more. The crash today really proved that we are no closer to a acceptable solution that we where when the computer launched.

I don't think there's anything fundamentally flawed with the hardware.  Just my opinion.  I think improvements need to be made in the drivers for video and power management.  In previous pages of this thread there is a procedure to manually update the video driver to a version from Intel's website.  This has completely solved the wake from sleep issue for me.

You can find the instructions on Page 42

Be sure to follow them precisely, the choices aren’t default/obvious.

Intel makes the video chipset which seems to be where the issue is.

    OK, good point,

Is this a hardware issue in the video chip, so should I simply send the thing back, because the chip is broken, and look for a further iteration of the product?

Or is it a video driver issue, that will (hopefully) be solved via an update?
