Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

    Ok, I see that the graphics driver was put back by the firmware update so I need to manually reinstall. Makes me feel better as I did think that new driver fixed the sleep issue.

    That's interesting.  The firmware upgrade from a few days ago did not touch my manual install of the Intel x.4352 Dec 2015 driver, it remained installed/active.  My SP4 continues to wake from sleep perfectly probably 95% of the time, the other 5% it is a bit sluggish and/or I have to tap the power button once or twice extra, and occasionally the Windows Hello camera red light comes on doesn't seem to want to go off without some gyrations.  But mine's a million times better than it was in December. And in reference to some other posts, my battery life hasn't changed since the firmware update, it continues to be pretty solid.  I manually dial down the display brightness as much as possible, though, which I'm sure helps.

    One tip of the day for those who may not be aware, it's my favorite one to tell SP4 and SP3 users about -

    Fn+Del increases display brightness, and Fn+Backspace decreases display brightness.

    You could do it one-handed with the SP3 keyboard when the Fn key was on the right side, now it requires two hands with the SP4 keyboard.  Sorry about the off-topic digression...

    I strongly recommend you download the latest display driver from Intel.com and install it.  It fixes many problems and has eliminated the sleep mode blackscreen problem for me.  Installation is a little complicated.  Follow the instructions found on page 42 of THISthread.

    I have seen some posts that the new drivers do not work with the Dock and a desktop monitor.  And since Microsoft did not include them with the new update, I suspect it may not help those of use equipped this way. 

    I can confirm this. I installed the new drivers over the weekend, system worked great. Today I put it in the dock, had to reboot to get the system to connect to the dock's monitor. From there I went to a meeting and had to reboot before the system would display to the projector. Not good.

    Hyper-v is not enabled (not checked). I am certainly not going to do a recovery and the loads of hassle that involves unless I were convinced it would fix the problem, which I am not. Easy to say to customers "flush and start over". While that probably wouldn't work, it would waste the customers time and not yours. I did the manual intel driver update elsewhere in the forum and am seeing if that works.

    Nuts that MS has not fixed this yet.
