Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

    While sleep mode still has problems, is there a way to completely disable it? I can pretty much count on the machine being broken and crashing sooner or later after going to sleep. Last night I had it connected to the dock and only closed the keyboard so it can continue downloading stuff for a while. I've set it not to go to sleep when on battery, do nothing when closing the keyboard and hibernate after 30 minutes. Today when I resumed from hibernation, it crashed shortly afterwards, I checked the logs and discovered that it awoke from sleep at some point in between. For some reason it still sleeps even though it's supposed to be disabled.

    I have the MSFT recommended driver (whatever shows up with updates), and with an I5 256, have had no problems in several weeks with Sleep wake issues or fan issues.  What I'm noticing on this board is that folks having issues always mention closing the keyboard.  I never do that, so I can't comment on it.  But I'm wondering if that is the residual issue, putting it to sleep via closed keyboard.  

    My issue with sleep is that it gets warm DURING sleep.  So I now use hibernate for times greater than 2 hours.  I don't like it, as coming out of hibernate is not nearly as simple as coming out of sleep. My SP3 goes in and out of sleep with the power button like a charm.  My SP4 seems to do the same now, except then it gets hot.  I've not seen anyone comment on the getting hot issue during sleep.  

    Does anyone know a way to determine what is or was running during the time it got warm?

    Your answer is pretty much incomplete!

    The text you had written is not the answer, you should describe more in details about the problem, and suggest a temporarily solution. Not just go straight to say hey do that...

    Been using this driver for a few weeks, problem has cleared up,  no problems with dock.

    That is the one that largely fixes one problem and creates another -- can't connect to an external monitor.
