Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

    i have owned my surface pro 4 for about 3 weeks now, after deciding to switch from apple to Microsoft my experience has so far been nothing but horrendous. i have encountered various serious technical problems while using my surface pro 4, the main ones being. 

    • Google chrome constantly keeps crashing, have tried everything from un installing to reinstalling chrome but nothing seems to work
    • Sometimes when i put my surface to sleep the cpu fan speed increases, starts heating up and then drains the battery. Whats the point of having a sleep mode if it dose not even work properly.
    • If my surface goes to sleep and i wake it, the screen sometimes just goes black, the mouse icon appears but nothing happens, You manually have to force restart the surface in order to get it working again. this problem is really annoying as i have lost multiple word documents due to having to force restart because i can not save.
    • surface sometimes freezes when browsing the start menu, also have to force restart in order to get it working.

       I feel kind of ripped off because as i have purchased a half finished product and have no idea how the surface was even allowed to be released in this state. i have tried to look for solutions online but no one seems to know what the **** is going on. Also these problems seem to be widespread, i have posted in these Microsoft forums before but no one seemed to help.

    i am starting to quickly loose faith in Microsoft and their online community and if the issues are not resolved by the weekend, i will be demanding a full refund and telling all my friends and family to stay clear of any Microsoft surface products. Also please do not tell me to "update my surface" because it is currently up to date.

    All,

    I've finally had it with having to hard reboot so frequently.  I'm ready to return my Surface Pro 4 if there is not a solution here.  does any one know if new units being sold today still have this problem? Other than this unacceptable bug, I really do like it. But today in a meeting I needed quick access, and it wouldn't wake up.  I've had it.

    Thank you for your post.

    Your post should be elevated all the way to the top of Microsoft to receive the visibility and serious attention it deserves.

    Of all the issues I have with my Surface Pro 4, playing the "how the heck or will my surface wake up" is the absolute worst issue of all.

    Having the advantage of startup speed with the solid state hard drives is negated by the fact that I cannot rely on the Surface Pro 4 to perform on queue.

    MICROSOFT YOU ARE ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL, FIX THE DISPLAY DRIVER PROBLEMS OR HAVE A RECALL.
