Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

This happens on my new Surface Pro 4 also, on opening it up, randomly either wakes or not; sometimes pressing the on button will wake it up, sometimes not; long presses sometimes work. It often takes a few minutes of playing around with things before it wakes up.

I am glad others have reported it here.

I suspect MS themselves have this problem each morning (not waking up to go to work or sometimes they do, or it takes a long time to get there) so I am not surprised they have not had enough time to fix it.

Has Microsoft acknowledged this problem at all?

On a daily basis, I cannot get the Surface Pro 4 to wake up using a push of the power button.  I have to do a hard reboot.  I read threads about some Intel Beta Graphics driver, but the Intel driver utility says I have no Intel divers. I read other threads reporting the problem was related to Edge, so I stopped using edge. So far nothing works.

The most frustrating thing here is the utter silence from Microsoft? It does appear to be a display driver problem, but please what is the fix. I can't continue to spend hours researching this. I just need it to work.

First of all, I want to admit that I have not touched a Windows product in about 10 years. However, the SurfacePro seemed very useful and I decided to grab one. I have to say, the hardware and form factor is great. If the software worked as expected, it would be even better. I am not saying that there should not be any bugs whatsoever, as those things happen. However, for a 4th Gen product, this is pretty awful. For such a basic function, having it not working for so long is absolutely crazy. In this case, both the software and hardware are made by Microsoft. The combination should ensure that everything works, even more so the basic functions... like a sleep function on a tablet. 

(I have also experienced the other bugs listed above, but fairly rarely, so I am letting them slide). More recently, the store app became corrupted, which in turn broke everything relying on it (Freshpaint for example). So I went ahead and reset the tablet, thinking that maybe the sleep issue would be resolved. Alas, no such luck, which means it is not a corruption issue, and the driver is most likely the problem. If this forum is to be believed, the bug has been around for an extremely long time and has yet to be fixed. This is inexcusable from Microsoft.

Anyway, this is the end of my rant :P

Note: if the surface could run MacOS natively and the good folks at Apple could get off their high horses and bring better touch support to their OS (even add support for running iOS apps on the mac), that is something I would jump on very happily... But the chances of that happening are fairly low, considering that the best thing they could offer was an overgrown ipad... 

In the mean time, I am just going to run Linux on my surface pro, and deal with the custom kernels. At least I can fix issues when they arise instead of waiting for the folks at Intel / Microsoft to move their collective hides.
