Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

    Hi ctuchsch

    More than one restart (not shutdown) may be needed to successfully install updates.

    1. Go to Start, and select Settings > Update & security > Windows Update.
    2. Select Advanced options, and select View your update history.
    3. If any update has a status of “Requires a restart to finish installing”, restart (don't shut down) your Surface.
    4. Go back to Step 1 and repeat until no update has a status of “Requires a restart to finish installing.”

    Example of update history where updates have status of "Requires restart to finish installing":

    If you continue to experience difficulty and/or updates were not successfully installed you may opt to manually install updates from the recently updated msi file found here.  For help with this please see the section titled "Download and install Surface updates manually" in the Install Surface and Windows updates article.

    Please let us know your experience after confirming successful installation the most recent updates.

    Same problem here, plus it seems something to do with USB drivers is draining my battery while in sleep mode. Went down 40% in six hours.

    I have the same issue, after I installed the 17FEB16 update. If the power button is pressed and the machine is left for 15-20 minutes it will not turn back on. I have to do a hard reset to get it back.

    I just changed the settings from sleep to hibernate, hopefully that will be a short term work around. But these issues really need to be fixed!

    I am also affected by the problem. The Surface will not start after about 10 minutes in Connected Standby, only a hard reset by long pushing the power button brings the Device back to life. It´s very frustrating :((
