Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

    As of 2/19/16, with all updates installed (including the 2/17/16 release referenced above), my Surface Pro 4 is still doing the same thing.  As I came down this morning to wake it from sleep it acted exactly as the OP described and required a forced reboot.

    Josh, was this a partial fix and are more on the way to keep people from having to reboot their tablets all day?

    It seems to do better when set to hibernate, but that is annoying.

    I was planning on swapping this device out for different hardware, but reading how many people are suffering this issue I think that might be a waste of time. Please fix this issue MS and cure an otherwise great device.

    So I have checked this and all of my updates have successfully installed. But still having the issue. I also have experienced finding my SP4 very hot in my bag after falling asleep for an extended period. Hibernate seems to be better. I have also found that when it goes into hibernate I have to wait a while or press the power button 2-3 times for it to wake up

    Already called support to get the usual reply, 'We will work with engineering to find a solution to your problem. Please wait to hear back from us.'

    But I don't have 2 months to wait, this machine is my daily driver...looks like it's back to using my MacBook for awhile longer. :/

     I agree, I am almost, but not quite, ready to send the entire Surface Pro bundle back to Microsoft for a full refund and revert to using my Fujitsu Q704. It works very well, even if the size is somewhat heavier and thicker in my briefcase. But at least the Stylus software on Windows 8.1 is effective, not like the SP4 pen usage downgrade.
