Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

    Thanks for the pointer - I'll give this a try. 

    I'd hate to go back to the graphics provoking the fan to run all the time again, but there's no question that this latest graphics driver update is a huge step backwards in many ways - including, apparently, preventing proper waking, and the complete inability to play fullscreen video without stuttering (on a 4K monitor - this worked before the last update.)

    We can only hope that Microsoft is beating the living **** out of Intel on a daily basis over the execrable, horrible, no good, very bad quality of the Skylake/520 drivers and firmware interfaces.  I'm fed up with trying to deal with a product that can't even deliver on its basic functionality requirements.

    It's bad when I own a nice, new SP4, but I'm thinking about buying a Chromebook just so I can get my basic work done...

    My Surface Pro 4 has developed a startup problem. When turned on after Hibernate or Shutdown, the Surface logo appears but nothing else happens. After holding the power button down for approx. 11 seconds, the system will shut down. Then, when the power button is pushed the system starts with the Surface logo, then the circling dots. This is followed by a black screen and then the Surface logo and the circling dots once again. Then, a blue screen with larger circling dots and finally the login window. I have tried the suggested "Clean boot" and everything is the same. I am not CERTAIN but I believe this started after what I assume was the 17 Feb 2016 firmware update that was installed on 18 Feb 2016.

    Any insight or advise would be appreciated

    We released an update on 2/17/2016 that addresses this issue.

    We recommend that you install this update to keep your Surface performing its best. You can get updates now by checking Settings> Update & security> Windows Update.

    To confirm the updates are installed, check Settings> Update & security> Windows Update> Advanced options> View your update history.

    This update has improved the situation, but has not solved the problem. It seems now that if the SP4 is in standby for a short amount of time, it works, and the battery drain is far less. But, I still almost daily need to do the hard reset and will find that the battery drained far more as well.

    Yeah same thing here, the back is really warm and the system won't wake back up from sleep.  I have the hold the power button for 15 seconds to shut the system down and then start it up again.  This is a pain, way worse than the old sleep issue that could be fixed with a quick tap of the windows + P combo.
