Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

    Magic keystrokes should not be required to wake from sleep - in fact, this may shock the Surface team, but this thing is supposed to wake up even when used as a pure tablet, with no keyboard at all!  (This is the majority of my own use when undocked...)

    Pressing the power button and volume up at the same time should have the same effect as ctrl-alt-delete. A nice little trick if you have to enter ctrl-alt-delete to log in based on company policy.

    THANK YOU for posting this - this is what Microsoft PROMISED us with these machines. 

    There is no question that as things sit today, there isn't a Surface Pro 4 or Surface Book (outside of the secret Microsoft lab where these things work) that can even begin to approach the battery life of the average Surface Pro 3.  Of course, his statement also implies that it goes to sleep when you close it and then you can actually wake it by opening it up and then immediately use it (without a forced power-off/reboot cycle) - Wouldn't THAT be lovely?

    OK, Microsoft Surface Team - you've got your marching orders - go deliver on the promise.

    Here is the power plan you are using:

    Anyways, I am using the following power plan (edited the default balanced plan):

    Sleep > Hibernate after > On battery: 30 Minutes

    Sleep > Hibernate after > Plugged in: 120 Minutes

    Power buttons and lid > Lid close action > On battery: Sleep

    Power buttons and lid > Lid close action > Plugged in: Sleep

    I don't think you are seeing it "fixed".  Your system is like mine.  It really doesn't have a problem if it goes into hibernate within 2 hours.  I have never had it not wake up using this similar power plan.  However in Sleep, it is warm.  I think when you have checked it out to be cold, it was On Battery AFTER 30 minutes so really in hibernate. 

    I did leave it in Sleep all night after the so-called fix, and actually, it did wake up.  But it was really warm.  I don't think keeping it warm long term is good, so I switched back to hibernate and never really gave it a chance to not wake up.

    The problem seems to be making Sleep work all the time, and not running hot.
