Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

    My problem now is that since the Firmware update of 2/17 my Surface Pro 4 will no longer hibernate (when waking back up it freezes on the Surface logo).  So I have two choices

    1. Use Sleep mode and hope that the device wakes back up without needing to crash out (works 50% of the time)

    or

    1. Use Hibernate which now results in 100% of the time crashing out and restarting.

    Unless you're an Enterprise user, Ctrl-Alt-Del is only used to get to Task Manager to kill something that's gone off the rails.

    I don't think I've ever used Ctrl-Alt-Del at all in Win 8/10, since it's way easier to get to Task Manager and a few other "old-style" Windows controls by right-clicking the Windows button.  (And without the magic VolUp-Pwr trick adanowitz suggested above (new one to me), Ctrl-Alt-Del is impossible if you don't have a keyboard...)

    Keep in mind that the keyboard cover is OPTIONAL, and not everyone chooses to buy it.  (My son just bought an SP3 and skipped it.)  It's not safe to assume there is EVER a physical keyboard attached to a Surface device.  This is why proper waking MUST happen without any keyboard interaction at all.

    If they really want to mock a device selection, contact me. We went with the top-of-the-line I7/1tb version which with peripherals and warranty topped out at about $3k. A lot to spend for a brick.

    Do you guys encounter another problem?

    The problem is that when I connect the SP4 to the dock, all monitors are disabled. When I manually turn them on, it asks me to sign out to make the scaling correct. However, after I sign out and sign in again, all the monitors are disabled again. Then I turn them on -> sign out -> return them on -> sign out ... until they all are correctly enabled.

    very very annoying. I connect the dock to 2 monitors, and use an external monitor as my main monitor (instead of the SP4's screen).

    I think Microsoft does not really care our complaint. Who posts here already has a SP4 and is useless for Microsoft. Microsoft only puts its efforts on selling more devices. Existing customers? It is not Microsoft's business anymore.
