Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

    Not a stupid question. Leaving it in hibernate is fine and seems to work 100% of the time. Doesn't get hot, no battery drain, etc. I think people complain about the sleep issue because it takes longer to boot up (which seriously isn't that long or a big deal) but it should just work. It seems like such a simple function that is available and works for nearly every other computer. For people who don't know much about computers and experience this issue, I'm sure they hate this (like everyone) and might not know what to do.  I will be switching back to hibernate after I do some more tests.

    Let me start by saying I know very little about computers.  I recently bought the surface 4 pro as I wanted a hybrid and something portable.  I was having the wake issue so I change my power options from sleep to hibernate as MS suggested, completed all updates and I have not have the issue in the last 24 hrs.  My questions is, should I still leave my power settings to hibernate?  Will this affect my machine negatively if I leave it in hibernate?

    I apologize if this is a stupid question, but like I said I know very little about computers...

    Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

    Thought this did the trick. Normally when I put it to sleep, after 5 minutes it wont wake up. I disabled Fast Start and put it to sleep. After 30 minutes, it woke up with no battery drain! Put it back to sleep with 73% battery and left it all night. Opened it up this morning and not to my surprise it was zombified. Had to hard reset and my battery was at 6%. I've seen some other posts stating if you remove the keyboard before putting it to sleep, it seems to be fine. Will test that out next. 

    And I only made it 30 hours without black screen of death with Fast Startup off... It was fine after overnight and came right on this morning, then a few hours later got black screen of death.

    Microsoft and Panos, you guys need to say SOMETHING. I've been a tech geek for 20 years and I have never posted a message like this before. If you guys truly Iive and breath this product line, have the passion you say, watch forums and social media like you say, how can you not comment on here? Sounds like lip service. At least have a voice on your own company's forum, I don't expect you to address all the internet.

    This product is fantastic when it works. I experienced that for 30 hours. Show some love to the people that are hanging on here and trying to make this work. In reality, we should have all returned this POS by now, but we're giving you guys some benefit of the doubt and it's waning.
