Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

    yeah.. seems the message is telling me to use component services administrative tool to adjust the issue..

    will have to look at later on to see how that works.

    will set the wakup passcode to see if I can hit what I was hitting a few days ago while I'm out on the road.

    seems like there's all sorts of mechanisms going off for the different action(s) i.g.

    using typed sets things different from just pressing power to sleep, as well as setting a timer to sleep.

    (if I use type cover or power button wont see error message, only with timer);

    Repeating myself for the 5th time :)

    I've noticed the non-wake issue when cover keyboard is attached, from day 1 I have the devices. When cover is not attached, I can wake fine,  no battery drains, etc. But I need the cover as I don't want just a tablet and therefore I have the issue.

    Just wanted to pop back in here with an update--

    The graphics driver update continues to help, but I have seen some correlation with having the typepad connected and the screen not waking up reliably. I have also seen the USB device error as well.

    When I don't have the typepad connected, my SP4 wakes up reliably, and also does NOT heat up when it should be sleeping.

    I have the typepad with the fingerprint reader, SP4 i7 256GB.

    so disabling the wakeup lock wont fix it for you..

    one thing I noticed as I was testing is I woke and slept the machine numerous times with the typepad(no power button, or windows switch)

    during those sleep/wakeups I would see a different result with the keyboard to touching the screen to pressing the power button(very unstable, almost as if multiple functions are being called(race condition));

    when you get ur black screen of death can you wake and sleep numerous times until it actually works? using the keypad to wake/sleep?

    over here sleep seems stable when I use the type cover to initiate the sleep. If I let the machine sit and go to sleep by adjusting the time to 1min trying to wakeup with the keyboard fails giving me only lights on the keypad. pressing the power button wakes up the machine.

    now after having a dead keypad and having to press the power button I see this:

    (unable to type until I physically disconnect the typepad and reconnect);

    looks like our USB typepad BUG..:
