Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

Hi,

I installed the latest update KB3170411 this morning and it looks like my problem has been solved. After many unsuccessful attempts and solutions when SP4 didn't wake up from sleep everything seems to be ok. I was also getting issues when I shut off SP4 and close keyboard lid the PC won't wake up and I got black screen with mouse cursor only.

I can confirm that the latest preview build update KB3170411 solved my problem - finally after 7 months of nightmares. I simulated all situation a couple of times and it seems to be solved so far.

Tried taking mine back to a Microsoft store in Saint Louis. Employee told me she was aware of the problem, but would not exchange mine with a new one. She did however offer to replace mine with a refurbished one. She also told me in wink wink form, that Microsoft believes the issue is in the software and there is a big revision to Windows 10 coming in late July that should take care of the problem. She did offer that if after the July update I still experienced the problem they would then replace mine for a new one. But then her manager got involved and I'm not sure that deal is still on the table.

Seems replacement is not as simple as it appears it has been for some on here.

Read my posts. I had the same problem at the Portland store but managed to get a new retail SP4. My posts detail how I went about convincing the manager to give me a new machine.

yes certainly would like to help in anyway I can help course

as for the survey. It would be nice. If we got any one to respond who actually has swapped out their sp4 for a newer one.

I have some internal forces at Microsoft working as well trying to answer the question is if there is a hardware upgrade, which actually does make the problem better ( An actual independente proof of the surveys premise)
