Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

Where is your survey? I had the wake from sleep issue about 2 weeks after purchasing my Pro 4 last December. I kept a log of when it occurred and what I had to do to wake it up. You can see the frequency was much greater before the Feb. updates. I have not had one wake problem since March.

Here is my log:

12/29/15 - PC went to sleep. When I tried to wake it up I get the black screen with the mouse pointer only. Power screen off and it is dark black. Power on and it is dark blue but nothing on the screen. When I hold the power button I get part of the logon screen saying to swipe down to reboot. Swipe down and the screen goes black and it does not power off. I had to hole down the power button for 30 seconds to reboot. Then all is fine again.

1/1/2016 at 6pm. Removed the keyboard from tablet then tried to wake the tablet. Got the problem described above from 12/29.

1/9/2016 Had the same problem as 12/29 after putting the pc to sleep and then a few minutes later trying to use it.

1/13/2016 Screen did not wake up but I pressed ctrl-alt-del and got the logon screen and was able to sign in. Screen was ok after that.

Screen would not wake up again and this time I had to power off/on

1/16/16 - Had the same problem as on 12/29 but when I press Ctrl-alt-del I can login and everything is fine.

1/17/16 same issue as 12/29. ctrl-alt-del lets me login and screen comes back.

1/18/16 I closed the lid after putting sp4 to sleep via power button. Returned after over an hour and could not bring screen back. Had to power off/on.

This happened again today where I had to power off/on.

1/19/16 Had to reboot this morning to get screen back.

1/20/16 Updated the Intel HD520 device driver per instructions on the forum.

1/28/16 touch screen stops working and i have to reboot to get it back.

1/30/16 same as 1/28 with touchscreen stops working

2/2/16 had the not wake from sleep with just the mouse pointer. Ctrl-alt-del got me in. 1st time this has happened since updating the device driver.

I am not sure I still have the updated device driver so I updated it again.

2/5/ had blank screen with arrow only. ctrl-alt-del fixes

2/10/16 updated display driver to new beta

3/27/16 Pressed a key to wake up the sp4 and I got the black screen with just mouse pointer. ctrl-alt-del allowed me to login.

Precisely and exactly right.

A very poor experience, with a high and negative impact on my attitude to Microsoft.

It is the total failure to engage which to the biggest issue.

I've worked in the industry for 25+ years.  Problems happen, and some are very hard to fix.  The key is to be upfront with your customers, explain what you're trying to do to help, and keep them engaged.

What we have with this issue is arrogance plain and simple.

From first receipt of my system in November it failed to resume.  Whilst there have been improvements, I still have no faith in it resuming cleanly, and there have had numerous meetings where I have been embarrassed by my inability to just use my machine.

What have MS officially said about this issue?

Next to nothing, little sign that they care, and absolutely no commitment to fix such a critical issue on such an expensive piece of kit.

I'm sticking with it, because if it worked properly it would be my perfect machine, but the whole experience has been totally marred by this issue.

I hate I ever upgraded from the Surface Pro 2.  The Pro 2 was a good machine.  I just needed a bigger screen and more positions with the kickstand.  So I upgraded to the Pro 3.  That was a big mistake.  The fan would constantly come on, and it would overheat.  After frustration, I purchased the Pro 4.  Thought I made a good purchased.  Instead I upgraded to a device with a different issue.  I now have a device that's not reliable when waking up from sleep.  I don't think I'll be getting another Microsoft Surface Pro.
