Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

    MTconfig error has occurred 6 times in past 7 days, but not in past 24 hours,

    the thing is black screen occurred two times in last 24 hour.

    Do you get multiple MTConfig error in the System section of the Event Viewer when the black screen occurs?

    Dear Josh I already installed 2/17/2016  firmware correctly, but screen won't wake up from sleep at least twice a day! what can I do now?

    That is a well thought through reply.

    I would be happy if Microsoft just implemented a normal non-clever sleep.  We bought Skylake-based Acer laptop for our grandson, and it sleeps and wakes perfectly, but doesn't have any of this connected-standby stuff. 

    So sleep can be done with Skylake without a doubt, and I for one would prefer that to all this annoyance and potential damage.

    Yes, a very good summary of the problem. Thank you Dub. Also thanks for pointing out that this problem potentially involves the Intel chips since maintaining the memory in a low power state without loosing data is handled directly out of the Intel hardware in the CPU or support chips. I am not sure how much control the BIOS firmware has of this in detail.

    BTW does anyone else have the silly problems I have with this Microsoft Community Board. If I come in from the email link to add a reply I get to the right place, but if I access it directly from the SP4 or my trusty Win7 PC I can only access posts through 124 or so going up through late last year. and cannot get to the current 1231 replies. Am I missing something obvious ?
