Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

Well, I'd like to know who the 'some people' are that the July 12 update fixed the dark wake a.k.a. no wake issue.  I am not one of those.  After the second sleep since updating, I again had the lit keyboard and dark screen.  Had to do a hard reboot again as usual.  So I've turned my USB work-around back on now.  I give up.  MS can't fix this issue and they need to come clean to their customers and explain why and what the resolution is going to be.  I'm on my 4th refurb and even though one of my refurbs was sent to global escalation, the escalation rep didn't even respond to my request for a new 1613 or greater lot unit.  I don't have an MS store nearby and so can't go that route.  Since some people with recent lot numbers have never had this issue, MS needs to step up in a big way.

The tests was done with Surface Book, which is basically identical to SP4.

The best sleep power I got with USB fix is 600mW, which is around 100hr of sleep with a fully charged SB. In term of SP4, the number should be around 60hr. Pretty acceptable numbers, unless you forgot to recharge someday.

The sleep power, however, can be as bad as 1000-1500mW, which can leads to a slightly warm-bag, and less than 40hr of sleep with SB, or <24hr with SP4.

The best number I remember without USB fix is 250mW, which is 270hr with SB, or 160hr with SP4. That is about a week of sleep.

All the numbers were collected with powercfg /sleepstudy tool.

According to this: windows 10 update history

In July 12 update: Fixed issue with some people seeing a black screen instead of the lock screen when resuming from connected standby.

Just installed and finger crossed, will report back here.

thank you pmocoaches for the suggestion.

TianjuWu - how much reduced battery life (time wise) do you see with leaving the USB hub on?  I have been disappointed with the sleeping time on the SP4 from the beginning.  I have turned off many other functions to try to improve this.  I travel a lot and chose the SP4 to quickly have it turn on when I get in front of a client and have programs remain open and accessible.  This sleep issue is annoying and embarrassing when trying to present something quickly to someone.
