Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

Yes, I have the same problem. I have had the Surface Pro 4 since launch and it has never worked properly. Although it was getting better with each update until the Feb. 17^th^ which completely killed the sleep function for me. I now have to use hibernate, even still it refuses to wake a few times a week.

I had the original Surface Pro and was very excited to get the new version. I really want to like it, as the form factor and capabilities is perfect for my needs, but it is so unreliable. As it is, I will never buy another Surface product.

While the problem is extremely frustrating, the lack of acknowledgment from MS is infuriating. This is just about a textbook case of how not to treat customers.

SP4 i5 8GB 256SSD

Tried everything but Beta drivers and a PC Reset. Not even getting so much as a hold tight another fix is coming from Microsoft.

Have sleep disabled, and if the next firmware update doesn't fix anything and Microsoft doesn't address it in communication for at least a future update, will be calling and having them fix it or return me my money, even though I got it on the first day it was available.

I do not think this is a fundamental problem with the hardware, because mine work perfectly fine before 2/17 in S3 sleep. If they have to return these CPU's to that state until Intel gets their head out of their ****, then that's what they should be doing.

Let's face it, we are on the Insider Fast Ring for Hardware. There is no way they tested this 2/17 update beyond a dozen or so people working at Microsoft in only a few conditions.

SP4 i7 16GB 256SSD - We need to somehow promote this post since the other on the topic which I still follow and post in still says that it is answered.  I am still not able to get my screen to wake from sleep even when the keyboard lights up.  I'm running the intel beta driver 20.19.15.4404 and I do get less wake-up issues than when running the latest firmware version from MS.  However, I still get at least 2 a day.

Attaching the Type Cover to the SP4, with power either on or off, is the kiss of death for my SP4.

Like you, I dock my SP4 in the SP3 docking station (which Microsoft says is fully compatible, if you ignore the fact that it makes a solid and reliable connection only about 80% of the time, even with the official Microsoft SP4/SP3 Dock Shim (P/N TP3-0001 which is free a the Microsoft Stores, if they're not already out...)  I will say that as poorly as my SP3 dock works with the SP4, it does seem considerably less demon-plagued than the new Surface Dock, which (based on posts in this forum) appears to be just as unstable and unfinished as the rest of the Surface Pro4/Book family.

If I NEVER attach the Type Cover at all, then my SP4 will wake from sleep *most* of the time.  (Until the timer runs out and it sleeps anyway, at which point it's wedged up hard again.  Yes I realize I *could* live with hibernation for everything, but see my earlier posts on that - that is definitely NOT what Microsoft intended as normal, or what they set as the default, even today, after months of horrendous problems.)

About half the time, I'm just using my SP4 to take notes and do a little light duty e-mail checking when it's not in one of the docks.  I can get by without the Type Cover for that, but actually doing any kind of document creation is out of the question on the touchscreen keyboard. 

Reminder, the Type Cover (remember the "click-dance" ads and "Lapability"?) are one of the main things intended to set the Surface family apart from "consume-only" devices like the iPad and Android tablets.  Sadly, Microsoft has decided to ignore its promises, and doesn't care on bit about customers not being able to work and losing data.  (I'll believe differently when Microsoft posts something acknowledging this problem.  I'm not holding my breath...)
