Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received a replacement device last night for the "won't wake from sleep" issue. It came with build 10240. I ran updates, now on build 10586, and received the 2/17 firmware update. I have run it for almost 24 hours, with keyboard and without, plugged in, and off charger, and haven't had a single  wake problem. Ive had a couple stutters, where I thought it wasn't going to wake up, but after a second or two, it did. My display driver is version 20.19.15.4364. If anyone wants me to cross reference any other drivers/files/dates/etc, please don't hesitate to ask. For what its worth, my previous sp4 would not wake 85% of the time, unless I set it to hibernate. Win+p never worked, closing and reopening the case never worked, ctrl+shift+win+b never worked, and it had the issue regardless of whether it was plugged in or not. On my new unit I have created a restore point while its working great, and plan to save it in case things go south. Any questions???

My first SP4 had a phantom touch problem on the screen (H/W fault) so MS Europe replaced it. The replacement model came with early 10586.003 build which I immediately patched to latest (.164)

Therefore I have the same display driver version as yours and still have the issue for 90% of long sleeps. I haven't actually tried the ctrl+shift+win+b method yet but was wondering what CPU you have ?

I'm i7 with 16GB RAM and 256 SSD

Thanks Jason, I do have some questions, as my situation is exactly the same as yours was (no button keyboard combos would help as it has for some others) and I'm on the same builds.

• I have gone good stretches without a problem, but never 48 hours. So please let us know if you are still not having issues after 2 days.
• Were you still in a store return window or did you have to handle the replacement through warranty? I'm wondering if replacements can be done at Microsoft retail store as well...
• Other had reported return and replacements, wiping and rebuilding, and still eventually end up with the sleep issues. I'd hate to go through the hassle of return and reinstall apps and get set back up for nothing. Can folks chime in on if they believe it is a faulty hardware issue or something like that? Early production runs had the issue and now better? I'm stumped at the inconsistency of the problem. From what I've seen and read on here, it seems like everyoneshould have the problem, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Hi Josh, I just purchased this Surface Pro 4 about a month ago.  All of the updates appear to be current, and there are no exclamation marks in the firmware section as you describe.

I estimate that about 40% of the time my surface does not wake from sleep properly.  Many times it will actually run and get warm to the touch while sleeping, and the backlight on the screen appears to be lit.  As such, the battery is almost out when I get it back on, making me wonder if the problem is that it is not actually sleeping, and killing the battery running when I think it is sleeping.

I see lots of comment about this on the boards and have a few friends with the same device.  It seems that everyone has given up on the tablet part of it.  Is Microsoft going to fix this or not?
