Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

    Apparently no one at Microsoft is listening, but here goes anyway:

    Today is 180 days from release date, and your Surface Pro 4 STILL DOES NOT WORK CORRECTLY.

    I bought mine on 01/16/16, so it is not an early batch problem. I have applied every update (firmware, driver, software) you have issued, yet:

    • it still randomly refuses to wake from sleep;
    • doesn't really go to sleep (today, chose sleep from start menu with 100% battery - four hours later it refuses to wake up; after hard reset, it starts an only has 7% battery);
    • pen stops and/or touch screen freezes (really embarrassing in a court hearing to have the Judge tell you to never bring that POS into his court again until it doesn't need a restart in the middle of a hearing)

    AND all of that is still occurring after: (1) I restored from the restoration partition, leaving my data in tact, and after that failed, (2)  your support team told me last week I needed to restore from a disk image, which I did, wasting SEVEN hours to download, restore, and reinstall the (non)operating system, my data, and software.

    I want my money back, and I'm going back to your Austin store and give them h#!! until they do it. It has been ten weeks of h#!! for me.

    I can confirm I'm also still having this sleep issue, even with the latest firmware correctly installed. I have already send one Surface Pro 4 back to Microsoft. And even the new one I received has this issue.

    Hello,

    So I've (just like everyone else here) been dealing with this ridiculous sleep issue. One thing that I found kind of helpful (at least for the time being) is to set the button and the type cover it "hibernate" instead of "sleep". Yes, it does take a little bit longer to start up again, but it is at least waking up and hibernate technically saves a little more battery that sleep does. Setting it to hibernate has been doing absolute wonders for me especially when it comes to not losing my work, so hopefully it can do the same for you all too.
