Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

    That's really embarrassing and ridicules after so many months and still not capable to deliver a proper functional device.

    So many devices have been returned all that months due to sleep or other hardware failure issue and even newer manufacturing unit still having issues.

    Thats really disappointing.

    I know this problem has been going on for a long time and still isn't resolved but I'm beginning to think that it is not a SP4 problem. Some thoughts...I have always had a problem with Sleep, on two desktops and a laptop. They never came out of Sleep properly and I frequently had to do a hard shutdown (holding the power button down until the fans stopped, etc. When I started using Hibernate instead of Sleep, my problems stopped.

    Of course, I never really saw the purpose of using Sleep on a desktop because my usage habits are such that the system is on when I'm around and Hibernate is fine when I'm away from the system for more than an hour or so.

    Even with a laptop, I've always preferred Hibernate rather than the hassle of getting Sleep to work properly. On a side note - way back in 2003 with my first laptop - I had occasional problems with it getting very hot while in Sleep mode so I used Hibernate instead.

    All of this leads me to surmise that we are using tablets differently than we do our desktops and laptops and find that Sleep might save a little time. But, I've found that it only takes my SP4 about 17 seconds to come out of hibernation and back to exactly were I was when I entered Hibernation and I'm no longer deviled by a problem with Sleep that has never worked properly for me before.

    So, I would suggest that Microsoft try to fix the Sleep problem in general and that SP4 users relax during the ––approx.17 seconds it takes to come out of Hibernation and enjoy a really fine machine.

    I am set to hibernate, and as of today, even that isn't working.  Each time I have returned to my Surface Pro 4 today, I have had to hold the power button to reset.  Very disappointing.  I've had it too long to return it, or it would be going back.

    I can understand that. There seems to be quite a bit of quirks with the Surface Pro 4. I never had these on going issues with the Surface Rt.
