Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

Good luck. My 1 star review has been rejected by the moderator. This is going to be my last Surface Pro, I was disappointed with the first one. I thought the #4 would be the good one. Well, luckily company paid.

I'm wondering if EVERYONE here started asking Panos Panay if his team is doing anything about the problem, would be a better tactic? Just barrage him till he answers.

Panos Panoy may not work for Microsoft. I am not sure how MS hired him on the first place.

I'm pretty sure the head of the surface team works for MS. ;) And just an update from my Not Waking Issue. Last week I got a replacement sent to me, and have not experienced a single non waking experience on the new unit. My previous SP4 wouldn't wake up 75 to 90% of the time. I've left the replacement unit pretty much bone stock except for a few apps from the store. I STILL don't think it's a hardware issue, but it's weird that this one I got hasn't had a single problem in a week.

I absolutely get what you mean. I'm fighting my own battle in another SP4 thread about the pen's issues. It doesn't matter if you bought the base model or the best model, every single person who purchased this tablet has spent a helluva lot of money on this thing and to be completely honest, at the price point they set it at, these severe issues are unacceptable.

I cannot stand the Apple iPad (had them for years and to be honest I bought them because I had already given my soul to Apple) but I am actually willing to call the iPad 9.7, which is essentially a glorified iPhone with a $100 pen, a better product than this. That entirely comes from all of these serious problems.

At this point Microsoft needs to give every confirmed buyer of an SP4 at least some of their money back (which we know would not happen, but I absolutely believe it is justified).

Starting to wish I'd waited for that new copper-colored HP Spectre. Bet it has the basics working.

A simple "we hear you and are working on it" would go a long way. The lack of that makes things 10 times worse than they need to be.
