Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

Thanks, this is the first useful info on this thread. Microsoft could have told us this here instead of all of us wasting our time trying to fix this, which honestly has added up to hundreds if not thousands of dollars in our time, per person. The fact that it seems they aren't supposed to even be talking about it in the Store, and haven't seen anything online from them is very telling to me of the integrity of the company unfortunately. All it says is we don't care about our customers, you're just a number, keep paying us.

Thanks for those who told me how to find my lot number.  It's 1548.

It worked fine until the Feb firmware update.  Surely another firmware update can fix it...

And where, pray tell, does one find the "lot number"?  I've looked in the "Surface" app, but no sign of it:

I think we shouldn't focus on the lot number to much.  I'm not sure whether they are sequential or not.

Because I've now seen a device that was manufactured recently and it works just the way they say it does, I'm convinced that the firmware update was delivered and thats all we're going to get.

It seems to me that a good way to think about this is.  If you have a surface pro 4 and the Feb. 17 update fixed your device, then well and good.  If you've restored your machine to the stock image and still have sleep crash after all updates applied, then the machine is defective.

Like I said before I deeply suspect that this is an issue of a defective display manufacturer, and Microsoft have made some changes since December.  They've had two months to sort out the firmware since feb 17 and they can't.  I think its case closed for those affected devices.

It can't be hardware since mine went from almost never waking up to almost working properly after the February update. Also because that Deezer app seems to prevent the problem. Think I'll download it and see what happens.

From what I've heard there seem to be two general experiences with the surface pro.  Those whose device didn't work prior to feb. 17 and then worked, and ... the reverse situation.  Mine was the reverse of yours.  I got it in December, and it basically worked, no sleep crashes.  However it did have light bleed and periodic flicker at low brightness.  It also tended to lose battery life during sleep.

When Feb. 17 hit my device broke.  Based on my experience with the new device and how perfect it can be with all current updates, I believe that we have a hardware fault.
