Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

Unfortunately the nearest store is 2 hours away. Guess I could be in for a drive.

I have been following this thread since Nov15 when I bought my Surface Pro 4 LOT1544 and tried everything including painting Apple of my device. My issues are solved and I won't be following this thread any longer; lest I keep getting 20 emails a day. Here is what I recommend:

    1. RESET your Surface Pro 4 and install all updates. If the problem re-occurs you have a faulty device.
    2. Return your Surface Pro 4 for another one. I walked in to JB Hifi (Australia) with my old device explaining my sleep issues. After entering some info into their computer (getting ready to return the device), they stated they could give a new one on the spot. They handed me one that was LOT1552 and I asked for a later LOT and the best one they had was 1601.

So far so good with new device (long sleeps no issue).

I stayed away from online/phone support as I can't stand it when someone steps me through a process that takes 4 hours only to tell me what I told them in the first place.

Stop wasting your time playing around the drivers and hibernate etc. If a RESET doesn't fix it, take it back.

I had problems with surface freezing when the screen turned off to save power after the update. So I had to recover and install all over again. Now the sleep is not working at all with all the newest drivers installed. Only thing to do here is to return it and hopefully get money back
